Mission: Walleye

We headed over to see Nannie and Papa this weekend. Saturday morning found me as the unexpected coxswain of the Sea-Bob, navigating the oft' chopppy waters of the Saginaw Bay. Our Captain, Sea-Bob himself (kidnapped by pirates as a child, he learned the pirate ways, later he stole the golden teeth of another evil pirate), was assisted by his "first mates" and fishing crew of Cal, T-Bird and Chooch.
Our fish mission: the elusive Walleye.

After several passes of the secret "sweet" spot known only by Cap'n Sea-Bob (and now me) we landed a few beauties. We caught our delicious supper and had a lot of fun too! And the littlest mate fell asleep in the cabin on the way home.

Fishing Invitation

Last week, Bird received this great invitation from his Papa via email...

OK, you are out of school for the summer. Yipee!!

Summer is here and you don't have to get up early for a job, you don't have to paint the house, or polish the cars, or hoe bean fields. So that leaves you with plenty of time to think about how you can develop your "FISHING SKILLS"

The good news is that the fish are still in the shallows. Yahoo!!!
We can catch them from a canoe, my little boat, or my big boat. There are fish everywhere. "HOLY MACKEREL"

The only problem I see, is that the only way to catch fish that I know of, is to "GO FISHING".

You can't do it sitting on a swing, or riding a bike, or watching TV. You have to have a fishing rod in your hands. The good news is that I have plenty of fishing rods. I mean I got more rods than we can handle if we each had four hands. And I have a fishing license that will allow us to catch more fish than we can eat in a week. So the only thing we have to figure out is "WHEN ARE YOU COMING TO FISH?"

There is a "FISHING TOURNAMENT" on the Kawxxxx River on Saturday, June 14th. from 7:00 AM to 12:00 Noon. We are invited to attend, I sure would like to have you bring your Dad and we can fish it together as a team.

Sooooo, send Papa a note on what we can do.

Waitin to go fishin, Papa Bob

Who can say "no" to an invitation like that??? Bird took first place for his whopper walleye (largest fish) and their team took third for their bucket of the five largest fish. All-in-all they hauled in a ton of fish, so the freezer is stocked. GOOD JOB!
